Beat The Beats

Beats the Beats is my graduation project I realized at DigitalMania Studio. 

 

It is a suite of three interactive musical experiences based on real time beat detection:

- A mobile game for advertizing music festivals. Players have the possibility to load any music file from their phones and play with that music. A beat Detection Algorithm will generate in real time obstacles that you need to destroy while following the rythm of the music.

 

- A game with Kinect to be used as an interactive experience during music festivals. This game is directly connected to the live music being played ( adjustable to electronic musics or live bands ). The beat detection algorithm will generate moves that the players need to perform in rythm with the music to get score. If two persons from the croud stand in front of the kinect, the game will launch automatically. 

 

- A musical VR experience with Oculus Rift to be used in private parties after the festival ends. This is another experience that is based on real time music's signal processing. The world you see in the virtual world will react to the music being played, the purpose is to feel the beats and travel through a musical world.

 

The key features of this project are :

- Real time beat detection.

- Procedural generation of obstacles (mobile) /moves (kinect) to play with based on the beat detection.

- A unique VR experience that responds to your music.

- A new level of interactivity in music festivals.

- A new way of advertising music festivals.
